Laishene Primary School Classrooms

Laishaine School project

CPA is seeking support and funding for this primary school in remote Masai country. We are to demolish and rebuild two condemned classrooms in 2010-2011. In 2011-2012 we hope to build a further two completely new classrooms and extra latrines. The school serves 537 primary students of which 274 are female. There are 13 teachers and only 7 classrooms available for all 537 students. The photos below show the condemned classrooms, which clearly present a danger to children and staff. Structural cracks run right through and across supporting walls.

Laishaine School project

Project Status: we have visited the project and consulted with the school and village elders. We have successfully sought support groups to help this substantial building and regeneration programme.

GREAT NEWS!! Community Projects Africa are delighted to announce that Gulf For Good have chosen to support us and our school building project in Laishene through their Kilimanjaro climb in July this year (2010). The Gulf For Good climbers will be fundraising energetically to meet their targets and any support for this challenge would be gratefully received. The climbers will also be visiting the school during their trip and meeting the local community - for more information on the project please contact Sarah Bradley and to contact Gulf For Good, please refer to our sponsors page.

Can you help? Please consider donating funds or joining a Community Challenge to work on projects such as Laishene and to raise sponsorship. Any funds raised for this project will contribute towards the building materials and work which will involve completely demolishing and rebuilding the two classrooms and thereafter building latrines and two additional classrooms.
